On June 17, students visited the Mabee Farm Historic Site!
Students were able to travel back in time and put themselves into the shoes and roles of the Mabee children on the farm
The boys and girls moved through 5 stations, including visiting a blacksmith to learn about apprenticeships and watching a nail be made; helping to build a replica of the barn on the property by lifting, carring, and building with large beams; learning about sheep shearing and the process from sheep’s wool to yarn; meeting Yaya the sheep and Goat Girl; churning butter from cream; and visiting the house originally built in the 1700s.
