BACKPACKS NEEDED FOR FOOD PANTRY

As you may be aware, AMS offers a Food Pantry program for nearly 20 students in our school. This effort goes a long way to provide food security for students in our school. This year we are in need of additional backpacks which students involved in the program can use to transport their food items home each week. If you have an extra backpack at your home that you would be willing to donate, please drop it off or send it in with your child to the AMS Main Office. We sincerely appreciate your support of the AMS Backpack Food Pantry. AMS STUDENT FOCUS GROUPS

This week Mr. Messia and Mr. Gela will be kicking off our first “Student Focus Groups.” In these brief morning meeting sessions, 12 randomly selected students will engage in discussion about their school experience and inform the principals on what they view as the strengths and areas for growth for our school. We hope to make this a monthly event and to involve over 120 students by the end of the year. WARRIOR WAY PLEDGE FOR NEWS10

Each marking period our school gathers for Warrior Way Assemblies, where we celebrate the three principles of Respect, Effort and Action in our school community. Students interact with one another, watch presentations and performances by classmates and engage in brief activities that help develop our school culture. During our first Warrior Way Assemblies of the year on September 25 and 26, students and staff members will be participating in News10 ABC’s Pledge of Allegiance program. A recording of our school community saying the pledge of allegiance will then be broadcast at a later date during News10’s morning news show sometime later in the fall.

WE ARE WARRIORS EVENT

Coming up on Thursday, September 26, students are encouraged to stay after school and participate in on our “We Are Warriors” sports afternoon. Students can stay after school with a teacher from 2:40-3:20 p.m., then spend some time in the Recess Area hanging out with friends from 3:20-4:00 p.m., and then cheer AP on to victory watching the Modified Football, Girls Soccer or Volleyball team matches.
Students must have a ride home at the conclusion of the sporting events (typically 5:15 p.m.). Parents are welcome to attend the festivities and be a part of the fun as well! Pizza and snack items will be for sale for students and parents by the APO from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
In the past this has been a great time for everyone involved and a great way for students to show their Blue and Gold pride. We look forward to a great afternoon where we will celebrate our vibrant modified athletics program.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ATTENDING APHS ATHLETIC EVENTS

Any student attending a high school sporting event must be supervised by an adult. Middle schools students are not to be unsupervised during APHS athletic events. Thank you for your assistance with this safety matter.
