  7. Odyssey of the Mind...

We are looking for Warrior Omers to keep this tradition going and would love to have your Averill Park student represent our district in this year’s Odyssey of the Mind competition!

Averill Park CSD students and families are now able to join in participating in the 40-years strong creative, problem solving and teamwork Odyssey of the Mind academic program. Warriors have been participating in this world-wide competition since 1998 with multiple teams advancing from Regionals to State finals each year.

Averill Park High School advanced to world finals in 2005, 2016 and 2018. Algonquin Middle School advanced to World Finals in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2019. WSL has had the honor of World Finals in 2010 and 2011.

Regional Competition Region 4: Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties will compete March 21, 2020 (Snow Date March 22) at Coxsackie-Athens High School.

All teams from Averill Park participate in regional competition. This competition will be all day excitement! Top teams from each Division and Problem advance to states. If a team advances to State Finals, held at Binghamton University, it will be on Saturday, April 4. This academic competition is a commitment, potentially into World Finals if a team advances. World Finals this year will be the week of Memorial Day weekend, May 27-31, and is held at Iowa State University.

We would also love to have our AP families join the force to help with coaching, judging or to volunteer. Don’t worry about inexperience! There are two training dates for coaches and judges. Coaches training date is scheduled for Nov. 20; final location is typically confirmed a week prior for either of the locations for Questar. Judges (must be 18 ) training will be Jan. 25. Volunteers only need to be available day-of competition as no training dates are required. We would love your student and family to continue our AP 20+ years of
Odyssey excellence.
