NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
As a member of the district administrative team, this Director of Special Education will provide leadership and direction in all aspects of Special Education, as well as supervise and evaluate the instructional and non-instructional support staff. The Director of Special Education will work in a collaborative manner with all administrators to ensure appropriate programming and services are provided to students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of five years successful experience in a related area (i.e. special and/or general education, psychology, social work)
• Valid New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader
• Expertise in strategic planning, decision-making and team facilitation
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws related to CSE/CPSE/Section 504
• Excellent communication skills
