AMS ONLINE BOOK FAIR

Reminder – Our fall book fair is online this year.  It is currently OPEN and will run through Saturday October 17th.  All purchases will directly benefit our school.  All orders will ship directly to your home and all book-only orders over $25 will ship for free.  Don’t miss your chance to shop affordable books and support AMS.

FAMILY ASSISTANCE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

AMS FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM

The AMS Food Pantry Program will be starting soon to assist families in need.. Our cupboards are currently bare.  We are accepting  donations in the Food Pantry box outside the main entrance.
Popular items are:
Packages of snack crackers (peanut butter and/or cheese filling)
Granola and snack bars
Mac and Cheese cups
Fruit cups
Microwavable meals (non perishable)
crunchy peanut butter
Fun types of cereal

YMCA OFFERING FREE FOOD BOXES TO FAMILIES IN NEED

FREE FOOD Boxes are offered to all who need help. Each Friday, 2000+ FREE FOOD BOXES will be available!

Pick-up Times and Locations:
9 – 11am at the Troy YMCA (2500 21st Street, Troy NY 12180)
12 – 2pm at the Rensselaer’s Riverfront Park (Rensselaer, NY 12144)

Each box weighs between 30 and 40 pounds, and has the following types of items:
Assorted Fresh Vegetables and Fruits
Meat and Eggs — Pre-Cooked Protein/Meat, Chicken and Eggs
Dairy — including Cheese, Butter, Cream Cheese and 1 Gallon (or equivalent) of Milk

APO BLUE MOON HALLOWEEN HUSTLE – VIRTUAL 5K & 1 MILE FUN RUN

October, 30 – November, 1, 2020
The APO would like to invite you to participate in the 1st ever Blue Moon Halloween Hustle Virtual 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run. All proceeds will go to directly support AMS. Anyone is welcome to join in.  Grab your family and friends and get outside for some exercise while connecting with our community! A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. Run your own race, at your own pace, and record your time online.  It can be run any time between Friday, October 30th and Sunday, November 1st. The cost is $10 per participant.  *T-shirts are available for purchase separately.  Pre-order of shirts for delivery before the event has closed, but we have opened up a second order.  If we get enough interest, shirts will be shipped about 2 weeks after the close of the event.*

An important Chromebook reminder: Please help your child be ready for school by reminding them to charge their Chromebook each night and to be sure to pack it in their backpack for the next school day.  This should ensure that their school day and learning is not interrupted.  Thank you!

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Attention 8th grade students: The Algonquin Middle School student council elections will take place on Friday, October 30th.  There are four student council positions that you may run for: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Any 8th grade student interested in running for any of these offices must fill out an application. Applications are located in the 8th grade hallway across from room 800 on the bulletin board. You can also fill in an application by joining the student council google classroom and clicking on classwork for a digital copy of the application. The code is: pqbfmsk
Included in the packet is the job description as well as the criteria you must follow in order to run for one of these positions.  All applications must be in to Mrs. Kehn by Friday, October 23rd.
