JOB DESCRIPTION FOR
TEACHER LEADER
POSITION TITLE: Teacher Leader
(Curriculum Leader assigned to K-5 grade level team; 6-8, 9-12. 6-12 or K-12 content area team)

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Assigned a full teaching responsibility
• Successful teaching experience
• Strong ability to work with others
• Broad knowledge of NYS curriculum, standards, assessment and staff development practices
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Goal-Setting:
o Participate in Leadership Team meetings at the district and building level as assigned. Meetings will be held outside of the school day)
o Support the implementation of district goals and building level objectives through development of appropriate curriculum team or grade level team actions steps
• Communication:
o Participate in Teacher Leader meetings and trainings (District Leadership Team or Building Leadership Team)
o Share information/initiatives of respective leadership group with curriculum or grade level team
o Establish agenda and record minutes for team meetings
• Collaboration:
o Support alignment and cross-curricular integration of curriculum and instruction
o Support implementation of guaranteed curriculum and learning standards
o Content area leaders will lead curriculum work with team members relating to scope/sequence, pacing guides, common assessments and the utilization of data to inform instruction.
• Professional Development:
o Assist in planning and coordination of professional learning for members of the team
o Content area leaders will act as a turn-key trainer for staff development activities related to curriculum and instruction
o Serve as an instructional leader and resource to members of the team
• Informed Discussions and Decision Making:
o Chair the monthly curriculum team meetings Utilize data-based decision making with team members
o Participate in analysis of student performance to identify and design necessary instructional programs changes
