While a decision has not been made about whether tomorrow will be a snow day, as the first snowstorm of the school year is quickly approaching, please know that the Averill Park Central School District will not be participating in the New York State Education Department’s snow day pilot program at this time. Days in which the District decides to close due to inclement weather will result in a day off for all of our students, whether they are virtual or in-person.
This decision was made for a number of reasons and we would like to keep a sense of normalcy for our students this year and honor the childhood traditions that snow days bring.
We hope that our students will get out their boots, hats and sleds instead of their Chromebooks and chargers, and enjoy a break from learning.
