  7. Update on Athletics and...

On Thursday, January 28, Rensselaer County officially announced that it will allow school districts to begin high-risk winter sports on Monday, Feb. 1. The District will hold a special Board of Education meeting on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. to discuss this topic. A livestream of the meeting will be posted here. Those who wish to submit a public comment to be entered into the record for the meeting should fill out this form.

Since no high-risk winter sports have been approved at this time in APCSD, there will not be any practices on Monday. Instead, JV and varsity boys and girls basketball, competitive cheer and wrestling may participate in non-contact workouts, as they have been doing. Ice Hockey will not yet begin at this time.

The District is currently working with its colleagues in the Suburban Council, in Rensselaer County, and officials from Questar III BOCES as more details emerge. Other counties in the Suburban Council have not yet approved sports to begin, which presents logistical challenges for the upcoming season.
