Gabriel Bol Deng, leader of the “Hope for Ariang” African relief program, recently made a virtual presentation for Algonquin Grade 7 students as part of the ELA unit of study on the Sudanese Civil War and the text “A Long Walk to Water.”
Gabriel, a “Lost Boy of Sudan,” shared his personal story of survival, his arrival as a refugee here in America and his work during his adult life to promote education and peace in his native country.
We thank Gabriel for his powerful and inspirational message, but even more for his dedication to making our world a better place through his actions in Africa to support education, clean drinking water and basic health care needs.
