Mara Little and Ashleigh Mein have recently been recognized by Best Buddies of New York State as “Walkers of the Week.”
Both Ashleigh and Mara are among the top Best Buddies fundraisers in the state. Best Buddies selects one Walker of the Week each week during the school year.
Mara is the APHS Chapter President and is the No. 1 fundraiser in Albany. Mara and her buddy Mario have been friends for three years and she says that he has forever changed her life.
“Mara continues to blow us away with her hard work and enthusiasm,” Best Buddies said.
Ashleigh joined Best Buddies in eighth grade and is in her fourth year with the organization. As the fundraising chair of the APHS chapter, Ashleigh says the best thing about being an officer is “helping to plan meetings and events and making our community a better place.”
Ashleigh and her buddy Ashley have formed a lifelong friendship and have stayed connected during the pandemic by walking outside together and Facetiming.
“We believe this is such a great accomplishment for our school, community, and the High School’s very own Best Buddies program,” Ashleigh said.
