  7. NHS Spreads Joy to...

The Averill Park High School National Honor Society (NHS) inductees spread joy to local nursing home residents recently.

This community service project was organized by the NHS officers, Emma Burdick, Kendall Dollard, Molly Cummins, and Haley Johnson. They thought it would be a great idea to make cards to send to the residents of local nursing homes to brighten their days. More than 200 cards were made, collected and then distributed to two local nursing homes, Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Van Rensselaer Manor.

NHS inductees must provide community service as part of their induction. Members can volunteer locally or globally to better the community in some way. Many inductees choose to work individually while others have provided letters to seniors or Peer Tutoring at the high school. We have more service projects in the works!

Great work NHS!
