GRADE 8 CAREER JAM

On Monday, April 26 all Algonquin Grade 8 students will participate in the first ever Capital Region “Career Jam” during Access Period. The “Career Jam” is an innovative program that brings together private and public sector employers to connect with students about career pathways.

Initially envisioned as an in-person career fair, this program pivoted to a virtual environment to allow for students to participate in a “virtual field trip.”

Organized by the area’s regional BOCES, including our own Questar III BOCES, students explored an interactive online environment that included live presentations, recorded video content and many other resources to support the formation of career pathways.

To learn more about Career Jam, click on this following link to a video that was shared with Grade 8 students: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a9s7uiAviWiOeAT0FTEaMHdii-uablwy/view?usp=sharing

APO NEWS

Please remember that there are many easy ways to help our APO raise money! First, consider using smile.amazon.com when purchasing through Amazon – Algonquin Parent Organization can be set as your selected charity (your login information will be the same as amazon.com). It is simple to set-up and you can save it right to your account!

Box Tops have changed! No more clipping and sending in with students (which inevitably get lost in their backpack). Please consider downloading the Box Tops for Education app to your phone, create a simple account, and then just scan receipts (or have a student in your house do it)! You will again be asked to select your school to support – Algonquin is out there and ready to roll. It’s very easy, and every little bit counts! (See the attached document for additional help. Please reach out to Cat Headley if you have any questions. Headley70@gmail.com)

Also, from now until May 29, 2021 – our school will be participating in the Hannaford Helps tower at the West Sand Lake Hannaford. If you purchase 4 or more qualifying items, you will be given a receipt to add to our school pocket in the collection tower. Additional information is attached in the PDF.

Last but not least, we are always happy to have families donate directly to APO via PayPal using ams.parentorg@yahoo.com.
