On Tuesday, June 15, Governor Cuomo announced that many state-mandated COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted across commercial and social settings. This does not include school districts. As such, all COVID-19 health and safety protocols will remain in place for students and staff members at the Averill Park Central School District.
The new directive also does not cover school-related gatherings such as graduations and moving up ceremonies. Our individual schools are providing details for end-of-year plans to families and the required safety protocols will remain in place.
The District has met with other school districts in Rensselaer County to discuss the changes made by the Governor and how it affects education. We will communicate any changes when new guidance related to schools is released by the CDC and the New York State Department of Health.
