  7. Update Regarding Year-End Events

Averill Park CSD Community,

The state’s COVID-19 guidance regarding year-end activities is constantly being updated.

Please know that school districts have very specific guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Health that we need to follow, and we are working in a deliberate and purposeful manner to create lasting memories for our students and their families, while simultaneously following the required guidance. We apologize for any additional angst and stress this is causing.

The latest guidance regarding year-end events, including moving up ceremonies and graduations, was released yesterday.

5th & 8th GRADE OUTDOOR MOVING UP CEREMONIES

The new guidance states that unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask at all times. Fully vaccinated individuals are not mandated to wear a mask. Vaccination status will be self-reported via the honor system.

In consideration of all of our guests in attendance, we will maintain social distancing for both guests and students. Students will wear masks on their way to and from the school. Students will not wear masks during the actual ceremony since they will be socially distanced, except when they are individually recognized.

For any questions, please contact your building principal.

APHS INDOOR GRADUATION

The latest guidance for Indoor Events above 250 people states:

  • Large-scale event venues – defined as venues that have an indoor capacity of greater than 1,500 – will still follow the State’s existing health guidance for larger events.

The Times Union Center is requiring guests either show proof of vaccination or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test result. Individuals will not be allowed to enter the arena unless they show proof of vaccination or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test result. Masks will be required at all times, regardless of vaccination status.

For any questions, please contact Mr. Quiles.
