  7. Superintendent Letter Regarding Severe...

Averill Park CSD Community,

The severe storms and flooding throughout the past 24 hours have impacted our school community and have sent many of us through a wide range of emotions, including fear, anxiety, frustration, and relief. Above all, the District is concerned about the well-being of our students, staff and community members.

We have seen significant damage throughout our community. Homes, businesses, roadways, and powerlines were all impacted. Algonquin Middle School suffered damage and Averill Park High School had significant damage.

Buildings and roads can be replaced over time, though. We hope that each and every individual resident in our school district that was impacted by the storm is healthy and safe.

We would like to thank our building and grounds crew, who worked tirelessly during and after the storm to protect our school buildings. Their dedication is unmatched. We would also like to thank emergency personnel, utility crews, and county and state workers who responded and continue to work throughout our community.

During this time, if you have needs that we can help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the District. We will all get through this together.

Sincerely,

Dr. James Franchini
Superintendent of Schools
Averill Park Central School District
