  7. APHS Schedule Portal Now...

Good morning,

I hope this email finds you and your family healthy and well. While we are still awaiting operational details regarding what our opening will look like, I am pleased to reach out to let you know that our master schedule for the 2021-22 school year is where we would expect it to be at this point in the summer.

Today you will find the SchoolTool Portal has been opened so that students and families may view their course schedules for the 21-22 school year.

As you look at your schedule, please know that our Counseling Team has made every effort to reduce student conflicts, and maximize student enrollment in the courses which most students selected. I can state without question that our overall outcomes this year are statistically better than we have ever seen. Of course, there will always be conflicts in a complex schedule and a school of our size. Some students have, or may still, need to make some choices.

Please note that as a general rule student schedules will not be changed between now and the opening of the school year. We will have an Add/Drop Period for schedule changes between the dates of September 20-29. Of course, the exceptions to this include:

  • a student has failed the prerequisite course and needs the next course in the sequence.
  • a student went to summer school and no longer needs the assigned course.
  • a student is repeating a course with the same teacher.
  • a clerical error has occurred or two courses assigned to one time slot.
  • there are special medical considerations (requires medical verification from a physician).

If you have any questions related to scheduling, please contact our Counseling Center at (518) 674-7025. Our Counseling Staff will be back in the offices starting this Monday, August 23, to help out.

This year, we will assign all students the option of having a locker at the high school. This information will appear in SchoolTool as we get closer to opening. Additionally, we will send out the 2021-22 student lunch schedule the week before opening. Keep an eye on your email, and social media, for these items.

We are also hopeful that, as a District, we will soon be able to share more information about our opening. When that information is released, I will follow-up with building-specific information, as well as my comprehensive annual Opening Newsletter for Students and Parents. In the meantime, for our students who are in 9th grade or entering the HS for the first time, please remember that our New Student Orientations Program will occur at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 2. Mrs. Mein, our Assistant Principal who oversees 9th Grade, will reach out with more information soon.

To everyone else, I am looking forward to an exciting new beginning with each of you as we re-open for the 2021-22 school year on Wednesday, September 8. Until then, please stay healthy, and be well!

Sincerely yours,

Heath C. Quiles
Principal
