MORNING ARRIVAL

We would like to thank everyone for their patience during morning drop off over the past week. Traffic has been moving more smoothly, but still there is congestion in the morning. Please remember that families are welcome to drop off their child at any time between 7:00am and 7:45am each morning. We respectfully ask that families wait until 7:00am to drop off their child as there is no adult supervision available prior to that time in the morning. Families are also encouraged to carpool with neighbors whenever possible. Thank you.

AMS SAFETY DRILLS

Greetings, AMS Community!
Next week we will be conducting some safety drills during our school days. We will practice both our fire safety procedures as well as a lockdown. Both of these drills will function mostly as they already have in the past. However, there are notable changes to each to accommodate safety protocols for operating during COVID-19.

Students will not be forced to cluster together during either drill. For lockdown drills students will remain in their seats. For fire drills, students will remain in socially distanced lines for the whole drill. In case of actual events, students will gather together in classrooms to be out of sight during a lockdown. Or, they will be closer together in lines as they evacuate the school during a fire emergency. At that point, the most immediate safety priorities are maintaining physical safety during the lock down or fire emergency.

If you have any questions about either of these drills please feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,
Dr. Rhode

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

The Fall Scholastic Book Fair continues during lunches through Friday 9/17.

The APO is also running a COIN CHALLENGE during the book fair in order to collect money for the “All For Books” program. The money collected directly benefits our school library and classrooms, plus Scholastic matches every dollar collected by donating a book to a child in need through a variety of charitable organizations. The homeroom collecting the most money will WIN A DONUT PARTY! Students should look for their homeroom’s container at the book fair. Parents can also stuff the bin during the Open House.

Students who make a purchase at the book fair get a chance to win a FREE poster (while supplies last).

Families can can also shop the online book fair at: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/amsfall2021

Parents can also set up an “eWallet” for your student (a convenient payment option), just click on the above link.
