The West Sand Lake Elementary Character Education team promoted ways to show RESPECT for the month of September.
One activity was reading the book Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun, by Maria Dismondy. It helped to spark the conversation that being different makes them special and unique. It also drove home the idea not to “yuck” someone else’s “yum.”
Many 4th grade students wrote to Mrs. Radigan in the Rad Raccoon Cafe asking if she could bring spaghetti in a hot dog bun to the menu. It was an authentic writing task. Mrs. Radigan was thrilled to help bring this idea to life while keeping the meal nutritious! The kids were thrilled to try it!
