  7. CARES Returns to AMS

The staff at Algonquin Middle School are excited for the return of the “CARES Program,” which started on Thursday, October 14.

CARES, which stands for “Committed to Achieving Results for Every Student,” is an after school program that runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The mission of the program is to deepen the connection between students and their school, and to improve students’ academic performance in their current grade level.

Qualifying students work with teachers to establish personal goals and complete assignments, projects and homework all with the goal of ensuring a positive school experience, in a small group environment.

As part of the program, students receive a snack and enjoy a recreation period immediately between the end of the school day and the start of the CARES program.

This program is being offered, free of charge, to AMS families of students thanks to federal CARES funding.

CARES was a highly popular, grant-funded after school program many years ago at AMS and the school is very excited to have the program return with this new federal funding.

Thank you to school social worker Linda Bille for her hard work in helping to bring this program to life to support the needs of our students.
