  7. Algonquin News – November...

FIRST MARKING PERIOD ENDS FRIDAY

The first marking period will conclude on Friday, November 12.

First quarter report cards will be mailed home on Friday, November 19.

WATER ONLY DURING THE DAY

As a reminder, students are asked to not have energy drinks, soda and other beverages, except for water, during the school day, with the exception of lunch time.

Various drinks can spill, attracting insects and rodents when not immediately cleaned up and generally make our school less clean for all of our community members.

Again, we ask that students save special drinks for lunch time and that they remember that water is the official drink of Algonquin Middle School.

HONOR A VETERAN – AMS VETERANS WALL

In honor of Veterans Day, AMS students created a Veterans Wall bricks highlighting family and friends who have served our country in branches of military service.

The bricks are on display in the AMS Main Hallway and will be for the remainder of the month.

Please enjoy this video that shows the individual bricks submitted by students and staff.

The next APO meeting is Monday, November 15, from 7-8 pm in the AMS Library. This is meeting 2 of 3 for this school year. Those wishing to attend virtually should email Cat Headley (Headley70@gmail.com) to receive a link.

The agenda includes an update from Dr. Rhode, a debrief on the events that have occurred so far this school year and plans for the next 6 months including a brand new winter event. APO activities so far this year have been very well attended and we are in need of more volunteers to continue enriching our students’ experience at AMS. Come to the meeting to see how you can help or continue to check the weekly email for the Volunteer Google Form coming soon.

Save the date: Our last meeting will be Monday, March 7th, same time and place.

LATE BUS SERVICE RETURNS ON 11/30

Late bus service will be restarting at a later time of day beginning on Tuesday, November 30.

Late bus runs will be offered each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

Late buses will leave AMS at approximately 4:30 pm each Tuesday and Thursday.

This later departure time is a result of bus staffing shortages and our attempt to creatively provide late bus service to students.

Students that need to use the late bus no later than 9am on the day that the late bus is scheduled for by clicking on the link provided on their Team Landing Page.

More information about late buses will be shared with students later in the month.

PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS WEAR LAYERS

As the fall progresses and we continue to offer as much outside activity as possible, including lunch, we would like to encourage all of our students to wear layers each day to school.

Please note that students are not allowed to wear blankets in school.

Wearing layers will help students be ready for outdoor activities, as well as our increased fresh air in the building with open windows. Thank you.
