NYS ELA ASSESSMENT – WEDS 3/30 & THURS 3/31

The NYS ELA Assessment is scheduled for AMS students on Wednesday, March 30th and Thursday, March 31st. This assessment measures the success of the instructional program the school provides, and as a result, is an important indicator of the success of our school. The NYS Assessment Program has been revised over the years to limit the number of days and the number of questions students need to complete. Additionally, the assessments are no-longer timed tests, meaning so long as students work productively on the assessment they can take as much time as needed.
On testing days, students are encouraged to:
– Eat a healthy breakfast on assessment days
– Bring sharpened #2 pencils
– Use a highlighter and notate the test books
– Bring a silent reading book for after completing the assessment
Thank you for your continued support.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND

Algonquin is proud to have their two Odyssey of the Minds teams represent APCSD at the New York State Competition on Saturday, March 26 in Syracuse at the NYS Fairgrounds. The AMS OtoM teams previously participated in the regional competition on March 5. Problem 4: “Matrioshka structure” team includes six members who created a play, incorporating a Matrioshka balsa wood structure, the different nested structures, and storage theme. Problem 5: “Life is a Circus” team includes seven team members. They created their play around the idea of a young person waking up and finding themself somehow in a circus world. These students have spent countless hours creating their script, costumes and sets. Please wish them well as they move on to the state competition!
