  7. WSL to Transition to...

Since Friday, April 8 there have been more than 23 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported at West Sand Lake Elementary School. Due to staffing shortages presented by this surge in cases, WSL will transition to remote learning for Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14. Spring recess begins on Friday, April 15 and runs through Friday, April 22. Additionally, there will be no before, during, or after school care through GCC on Wednesday or Thursday.

Principal Rosher will be reaching out to WSL families regarding remote learning.

Breakfast and lunch are available for all students in remote learning each day. Meal pick-up will be located at the GCC entrance between 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday. Anyone who plans on picking up a meal should fill out this Google Form.

Throughout New York State positive cases of COVID-19 have increased over the past two weeks. Please continue to practice healthy hygiene and monitor for symptoms related to the virus. As a reminder, if your child tests positive for COVID-19, they must remain home from school for at least 5 days following onset of symptoms. To return to school, they must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medication and other symptoms are improving. If they return to school on days 6 through 10, they must wear a well-fitted mask. Students will be sent home with free, state-provided COVID-19 at-home test kits today to be used at the discretion of families.

Please note that at this time, Poestenkill Elementary School, Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School, Algonquin Middle School and Averill Park High School will continue as normal and all students attending those schools will remain learning in-person.
