WARRIOR WEDNESDAY – SOCIAL MEDIA AND HUMAN CONNECTION

This month’s Warrior Wednesday theme is the Power of Social Media and the Importance of Human Connection. Today’s community building circle discussion is focused on the power and challenges of phones/devices and social media in teenagers’ lives. Following the discussion, students will participate in screen-free activities selected by their Morning Meeting groups such as taking nature walks around the campus, playing games, creating chalk art and helping make our school a better place through service projects. Please check in with your child about this month’s Warrior Wednesday activities to learn more about what they were discussing and doing today to help build a strong, positive community in our school.

MORNING MEETING CROSSWORD PUZZLE

Making its return for the first time this year, The AMS Morning Meeting Crossword Puzzle Competition will take place on Thursday morning. Students will work together to solve three small crossword puzzles to see which Morning Meeting groups will claim the “Grade Level Pencil of Excellence” trophy and our fastest solving Morning Meeting having a donut breakfast after the spring recess. This friendly competition has been a lot of fun in the past and we’re glad to have it return to Morning Meeting on Thursday.

2022 TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION BREAKFAST

Help us thank the amazing teachers and staff at the Algonquin Middle School! The appreciation breakfast will be held on Wednesday May 4th in the AMS cafeteria from 6:30-8:00 am. We are asking for donations of food (home-made or store bought), drinks, tableware, and gift cards for a teacher raffle. We will also need volunteers to help with set-up, serving, and clean-up. Set-up will be on Tuesday May 3rd from 3:30-5:30pm. Volunteers helping with serving during breakfast should arrive by 6:15am. Students are welcome to help their parents serve the staff. Clean-up will occur after the event from 8:00-9:00am. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. We can’t do it without your help!

Gift cards and tableware (as well as any food/drink items that will keep) can be brought to the front office on Tuesday. All other food/drink items should be brought to the side cafeteria door on the morning of the breakfast between 6:00 and 6:15am. Hot items should be cooked and ready to serve (crockpots work best). We have about 80-90 teachers and staff at AMS to thank. Please label any items that will need to be returned to you. You can pick them up later in the day by the front office.
