GRADES 7 & 8 CONCERT – WEDS. MAY 18

Our next concert is coming up on Wednesday, May 18th at 7pm here in the AMS Auditorium. Our seventh and eighth grade students have been working hard to prepare for their latest show, this time with everyone back on the big stage. We hope that you can join us for an evening celebrating the progress our seventh and eighth grade students have made this year in their musical pursuits.

SAVE THE DATE: APO OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT

The APO will be sponsoring an outdoor movie event for students on Friday, May 20th from 7:30-9:30pm. The movie, which was selected by a whole school vote, will be “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” (Rated PG) which was released late last year. The cost is $5.00. Tickets are $5.00 and will be for sale during lunches on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20th. No tickets will be sold at the door. While we wait for the movie to start there will be chalk art, lawn games and a seventh grade favorite: Duck, Duck,Goose. Popcorn and other snacks will be for sale by the APO during the event. We hope that your child will join us for a fun evening under the stars! Please note: The event will be held indoors should we have rain on Friday, May 20th.

APHS Odyssey of the Mind Team is Heading to the World Competition!

Please help support our incredible group of High School students. They will be traveling to Worlds in a few weeks to compete against teams from all parts of the world. This is a HUGE achievement and they are very excited to go. There are three different events coming up to help support these students and their families to pay for the costs of travel and competition.
Tonight: the team has a fundraiser at 16 Handles on Route 4, East Greenbush, between 6pm – 8pm. 16% of any proceeds during that time will be donated to the team. A flyer is linked below.
Thursday: The team is holding an Odyssey Night at the Algonquin Middle School cafeteria at 7pm on Thursday. A flyer is also linked below for this event.

Several items have personalization options, including the water bottle, so kids aren’t confusing theirs with someone else’s. RENSSELAER COUNTY STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – VIRTUAL ACTIVE PARENTING CLASS

Rensselaer County’s Student Assistance Program is offering a 5 week online parent education series. Active Parenting of Teens is an online program that will give you the confidence and courage to meet the challenges (and savor the joys) of your children’s teen years. Combining entertaining video, group discussion, reading and activities, the program will show you how to:
Communicate effectively with teens (it can be done!)
Understand a teen’s goals—which is key to avoiding power struggles
Give your teen the tools needed to behave in a responsible way
Be a positive influence on your adolescent
Reduce the risks of the teen years, including alcohol, drugs, sexuality and violence.

AP ALL SPORTS SUMMER CAMP IS BACK!

Chris Anderson and Mike Cavotta are proud to announce the return of AP All-Sports Camp! This non-competitive games camp for elementary and middle school students will take place June 27 – 30, from 9 AM to noon at Algonquin Middle School. CHRIS GRABERSTEIN PRESENTATION

We are very excited that students will be able to “opt in” to see a virtual presentation from bestselling author Chris Grabenstein! Mr. Grabenstein is the author of the Mr. Lemoncello’s Library series. Students who are interested will be able to see the presentation on Monday, May 9th from 10-10:45. We are selling the books in his Lemoncello series, (money is due on Tuesday, May 3rd). AMS SUMMER LOAN PROGRAM

Your child has a special opportunity to check out books this summer through our annual Summer Loan program. We appreciate your efforts in encouraging your child to read and make reading a fun part of summer! The permission slip is due on Friday, May 13th.
