Averill Park is proud to have two students selected to Conference All-State ensembles this year in David Morelli (Flute – Symphonic Band) and Curtis Gorman (Alternate – Mixed Choir).
This honor is reserved for the strongest music students throughout New York State. Each spring, thousands of students audition at their regional NYSSMA festival. In order to be considered, students need to earn a perfect or near-perfect rating on audition music at Level 6 / All-State level (professional level performance). In addition, students are further compared to others performing at festivals throughout the state.
Selected students participate in three days of rehearsals in early December in Rochester at the annual NYSSMA conference, culminating in performance at the Eastman School of Music.
