In an effort to promote school safety, lockdown drills at Averill Park High School and Algonquin Middle School were conducted today. The drill was led by building principals, in conjunction with our School Resource Officer, Deputy Brian Nikles. The intent of the drill was to provide training for students, staff, faculty, administration, and local law enforcement in order to best prepare for a situation that would require the school to be put into lockdown.
Please continue to have discussions with your children about the importance and seriousness of the drills. Our goal is to have these drills become so practiced that they become routine and the responses are automatic.
