Congratulations to Kathryn Padalino and Roxanne O’Brien for being named Averill Park CSD Employees of the Month for January 2023!
In her role as school nurse at Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School, Mrs. Padalino exhibits kindness and compassion to all students and staff on a daily basis. She always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is cared for when needed and works closely with outside organizations such as Sand Lake Kiwanis, as well as the District’s Backpack Program. Recently, Mrs. Padalino responded to an emergency at another elementary school in the district, showing that her impact goes beyond the walls of MHSL.
As the front door monitor, Ms. O’Brien ensures every student’s arrival to Algonquin Middle School is a positive one as she enthusiastically greets students and staff each morning, no matter the weather conditions. She has even begun playing music from her cellphone, adding an upbeat feeling to help everyone kick off the day on the right foot. Ms. O’Brien is constantly building connections with students, helping out in technology classes, and painting signs in the school and for set pieces for the spring musical. She has even learned CAD drawing tools and other computer-based programs so she can more easily assist students.
