FROM THE LIBRARY

Save the date: The Pleasure Read Book Club will be held on Tuesday, May 2. If your child would like to attend, they can email Mrs. Ekstrom at ekstromr@apcsd.org to sign up. They can also sign up in the library. Students should bring any book they’ve read that they would like to share. The book club will be held in the library from 2nd dismissal until 3:20. Snacks will be provided, all are welcome to attend!

CHROMEBOOK REMINDER:  Please help your child be ready for school by reminding them to charge their Chromebook each night and to be sure to pack it in their backpack for the next school day.

Consider talking to your child about social media:

Dove has a fabulous video that encourages you to discuss your child’s social media with them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAFvaz0pJSE&t=181s

Dove has an initiative to help increase the self esteem of social media users and encourages parents to guide their children through steps that can help limit and delete toxic content.  Check out this brief video that can also help you learn more.

Read for Ronald McDonald House Charities:

Grade 6 has the opportunity to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities by reading.  Before spring break, students were given an information packet, along with a sponsor form.  Students can ask their family members, friends and neighbors to donate money in exchange for their reading time.

All students who participate will earn a certificate.

Prizes include:

pen – $10 or more in donations

water bottle – $100 or more

tee shirt – $500 or more in donations

1 Apex Entertainment ticket(laser tag, bumper cars or Hologate) for each student who earns donations

Students who secure $25 or more in donations will be entered in a raffle to win 4 packs of Tri-City ValleyCats tickets will be raffled off to students who raise $25.  Two winners will be drawn.

If students secure $750 or more in donations, they will have an ice cream party during Access.

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides support to families who have children who are ill and may need to travel to the Capital Region for medical services.  They operate mainly on support from volunteers, and programs like this.

We hope that your child will participate in this worthwhile fundraiser!  If you have questions, please email Mrs. Ekstrom at ekstrom@apcsd.org
