In an effort to promote school safety, the Averill Park Central School District conducted an emergency evacuation and relocation drill today with the transportation department. The intent of the drill was to provide training to staff in the event of having to relocate students from one building to another area. This could potentially be done for a variety of reasons, including a gas leak or flooding. No students participated in this drill.
While emergency situations happen without any notice, our goal is to have drills such as this become so practiced that they become routine, and the responses are automatic. Please know that the District is planning for many emergency situations in order to keep our students and staff safe.
