Please be aware that on Monday, October 9, law enforcement officials will be on campus to remove and dispose of a chemical that has become unstable in one of the science classrooms at Averill Park High School. As the removal of this chemical requires specialized personnel, the District has chosen to have it removed at a time in which no students or staff members are in the building. The APHS campus will be closed until noon on Monday, October 9.
The District is working closely with the Questar III BOCES Health and Safety team, which has established a safety protocol for removing this chemical. Questar has helped other school districts in Rensselaer County manage similar situations in the past year.
