  7. Art Students Visit Local...

On December 6, the Advanced Drawing and Painting class and the Advanced Placement Studio in Art Students at Averill Park High School had the opportunity to visit  “Arts Letters Numbers” to view an exhibition and learn about this great resource in their own backyard.

While there, students viewed the current exhibition called “The Transformation Project ” a collaborative and inclusive project that focuses on combating the stigma surrounding substance use disorder by showcasing talents of those affected. As an assignment, students were instructed to select one work of art from the exhibition that resonated with them to respond in writing through an art critical process of description, formal analysis, interpretation and judgment. Students then listened to an inspiring talk by the executive director, Steve Lawrence, and met with international artists in residence. They toured the facility, and learned about future opportunities to connect and create with the organization.

Arts Letters & Numbers is a non-profit arts, education, and publishing organization dedicated to promoting creative exchanges across a wide range of disciplines including Architecture, Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, Film, Music, Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences located at 1543 Burden Lake Road.
