  7. APHS Band Attends Music...
On May 4, the Averill Park High School Concert Band traveled to Ithaca College to participate in the Music for All Affiliate Regional Music Festival, a non-competitive event that included 17 different bands from throughout the Northeast, with over 700 students participating. Students were able to hear the Ithaca Wind Ensemble perform as well as other school groups perform, attend individual instrument master classes, perform on the Ithaca College stage, receive commentary from internationally renowned adjudicators, and receive a clinic from one of the adjudicators.

This trip was a first for the APHS band since COVID.

The program the band performed included “Overture in Bb” by Caesar Giovannini (arr. Wayne Robinson), “Ye Banks and Braes O’ Bonnie Doon” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, and “Minuteman” (Concert March) by Robert H. Pearson. The band performed the Grainger in the March concert, but you can hear “Overture in Bb” and “Minuteman”, as well as other works, in the final concert for the APHS Music program this year on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 in the high school auditorium. The free concert will also include music performed by the Choir, Chamber Strings, Treble Choir, and Jazz Ensemble.
