Two APHS Spanish students recently earned the Seal of Biliteracy, a NYS Department of Education graduation distinction that recognizes high school seniors who have attained a high level of proficiency in a world language and English. Christopher McLaren and Paula DeAndres presented to a panel of 3 native Spanish speakers, Dr. Alejandra Bronfman, Carmen Nieves, and Ildefonso Apelanz, all from the Latin American and Caribbean studies department at SUNY Albany. Chris discussed the Galapagos Islands and their impact on evolutionary science. Paula presented on the importance of futbol (soccer) in Spain and its relation to social and political themes.
