Colleen Grimm started as a Clerical and Teachers Aide at the George Washington School 31 years ago. Since then, Averill Park merged with GWS. After 17 years, Colleen was transferred to Poestenskill Elementary School and has been there for 14 years. She is set to retire this month.
For Colleen, one of the best aspects of being a Clerical and Teachers Aide was the opportunity to work with students and to help parents. “My favorite part is hearing how former students are succeeding as adults,” Colleen Grimm said. “I had a garage sale one time and one of my former students stopped and told me how he was working as an airplane mechanic. It was an incredible moment.”
In retirement, Mrs. Grimm plans to enjoy her free time by gardening and completing some home projects.
