Dear Grade 8 Students:
As we approach the end of the year I wanted to take a moment to share with you plans that are underway to celebrate the milestone of your completion of your middle school career!
Class of 2024 We Are Warriors T-Shirts – Our special t-shirts, sponsored by the Algonquin Parent Organization, are scheduled to arrive this week. We anticipate they will be ready to pick up starting on Thursday, June 11th from 8am-2pm and through each school day until the end of the year (June 19).
AMS Send-Off Parade Event – Tuesday, June 16 (Rain Date: June 18) at 6:00pm. Join us on Tuesday for our AMS Send-Off Parade as we celebrate the conclusion of the school year. AMS staff members will be joined by local fire companies as we recognize your hard work, particularly during the school closure. This will be an incredibly memorable and fun event and we hope that you can join us! Remember to wear your blue and gold and feel free to make a sign or decorate your car to add to the festivities! We thank the APO for their support in helping to decorate our school for this event.
Take a Photo to Mark the Occasion – An AMS staff member recently made a photo backdrop for our Grade 8 students to use as a socially distanced photo station. At approximately 25 feet long, the series of letters spelling W-A-R-R-I-O-R-S will be on display starting on Wednesday, June 17 through Friday, June 19. We encourage you to stop by AMS and take a photo in front of this display and share it on social media with the hashtag: #AMSGrade8MovingUp!
Get a Photo with Mr. Messia! – On Wednesday, June 17 (from noon until 4pm) and on Thursday, June 18 (from 8am until noon), get a photo with Mr. Messia in front of the W-A-R-R-I-O-R-S photo station. There will be clearly marked spots where you can stand socially distanced from Mr. Messia and have a photo to remember the conclusion of Grade 8 and your middle school career.
Words of Wisdom for the Class of 2024 – Starting on Monday, June 15 and running through Thursday, June 18 we will turn our morning announcements over to a special series of videos from AMS staff members as they offer parting thoughts to the Class of 2024. Tune in each morning to our YouTube channel morning announcements to see which staff members highlight Words of Wisdom for our Grade 8 students.
AMS Recognition Day! – Friday, June 19 – Premiering at 9am, join us on our YouTube channel for a special video production of AMS Recognition Day. This program will feature photos of each member of the Class of 2024 as well as never before seen special photos compiled from teachers and from our yearbook. This presentation will also feature class and extracurricular awards for grade 8 students. The Pledge of Allegiance, our National Anthem and several song selections will be performed. It will also feature our annual Principal’s Address. Please set aside approximately 40 minutes as a family to enjoy this production and celebrate this milestone in your life. We thank Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Goodermote for their hard work in creating this video production.
Grade 8 Moving Up Certificates – Grade 8 Moving Up Certificates will be available for pick up beginning on Monday, June 15 from 8am until 2pm each day through Friday, June 19. Those certificates that are not picked up by Friday, June 19 will be mailed to the student’s primary mailing address the following week. Consider picking up your certificate on Wednesday, June 17 or Thursday, June 18 and get your photo taken with Mr. Messia while you hold your certificate!
I look forward to seeing you all in the coming days as we mark the end of this very memorable school year and celebrate all that you have accomplished despite the adversity of the past several months. I know I speak for all our AMS staff when I say that we are proud of you and excited for you to take the next steps in your life as you move to the high school. Congratulations!
