  7. Incident at a Neighboring...

Dear Parents / Guardians,

In a neighboring school district, an individual was reported to be visiting homes, fraudulently posing as an employee of that district in an attempt to collect chromebooks.

At this time, we are unaware of this happening in the Averill Park Central School District, but we want our community to be aware of the situation. At no time will anyone from the district be visiting homes to collect devices.

Students in grades 6-9 will keep their chromebooks at home over the summer and bring them back to school in the fall. Students in grades K-5 who borrowed a device during the COVID-19 pandemic should be returning it to school on either June 19 or June 22 from 9 a.m. – Noon or 4-6 p.m. The High School is collecting technology on June 16 and June 17 from 9 a.m. – Noon and 1-6 p.m.

If anyone comes to your home to collect a chromebook, do not give it to them. If this does occur, please call your local police department to report the incident.
