Today (Wednesday, Dec. 23) the District was notified that a student at West Sand Lake Elementary School has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The individual has been a remote student since the beginning of the year and does not require school-based contact tracing.
While we understand that you might like additional details, due to privacy laws we cannot release any identifiable information about the individuals or affected students.
As the District prepares to go into the holiday recess, please be aware that the State’s travel advisory is still in effect. Families who are traveling to/vacationing in the states listed on the NYS Department of Health travel advisory page must quarantine for 14 days upon their return. Any staff member or student who travels to another state, other than those contiguous to New York, may “test out” of the mandatory 14-day quarantine to return to in-person work or school.
