Two Averill Park students received awards during the virtual High School Regional Reception on March 25.
This is quite impressive considering there were approximately 400 entries. Junior art student, Ashlee Bayer was presented with a “Presidential” award provided by the president of Albany Center Gallery’s members committee. It consists of a $50 gift card to Arlene’s Artist Materials. Ashlee’s artwork was a mixed media portrait drawing of a nurse wearing a mask titled, “The Heroes Among Us”. The piece was created as a personal tribute to Ashlee’s mother.
The second award was presented to senior Art Student, Fiona Carroll, for her skillful mixed media painting of a bird being clutched by a drowning hand titled, “The Crush”. Fiona received a free one-year membership to Albany Center Galleries, which includes other exhibition opportunities.
