  7. Vaccines for 16 Years...

This week, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that all New York State residents ages 16 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination beginning on April 6, 2021.

Once students begin to schedule their vaccination appointments, we ask that they contact their school nurse to let them know of appointment date(s) and the vaccine brand (Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson). This will assist in quarantine decisions made by the Rensselaer County Department of Health.

New quarantine guidelines were recently released for individuals who have been fully vaccinated. These individuals are not subject to quarantine from two weeks after their final dose to no more than three months from the final dose. The vaccinated individual must be asymptomatic and continue to follow all health and safety protocols, such as using facial coverings and physical distancing.

Please note that receiving the vaccine does not exempt any individual from participating in District health and safety protocols, such as wearing facial coverings and physical distancing. Anyone who experiences symptoms related to COVID-19 should self-isolate, contact their health care provider to assess the need for testing, and notify their school nurse.
