Congratulations to Averill Park High School student Elizabeth DuBois for winning first place at the fourth annual BRIDGE event recently. Elizabeth presented her work along with eight other students in the Questar III BOCES New Visions program.
The students presented their research projects with 15 other high school scholars from the Global Thrombosis Forum (GTF) based in Atlanta, GA.
Elizabeth placed first in the categories of research poster and mentorship project with Dr. Mousa. She completed her New Visions project on the role of intratumor bacteria in breast cancer treatments with Dr. Mousa of the PRI and shared first place with Ananya Mahesh from the GTF who asked why COVID vaccines cause rare blood clots.
“My father, Daniel DuBois, inspires me because he works very hard and still finds time to prioritize his family and things he enjoys. He is very smart and honest, so I admire him very much. In the fall I will be attending SUNY Cortland to study biomedical sciences. I hope to eventually get a PhD and become a research scientist,” Elizabeth stated in a release from QIII.
This annual event is sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research Institute of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and is a collaborative effort between the GTF and the Questar III New Visions Scientific Research and World Health program.
