While our goal remains to provide in-person instruction this school year, the safety of our staff and students remains our top priority.
In an effort to keep in-person instruction a safe and viable option for students and staff, we are expanding the criteria to qualify for tutoring at the elementary level (grades K-5) and for virtual instruction at the secondary level (grades 6-12).
Effective Monday, January 3rd, students who meet the following criteria qualify for the elementary tutoring or secondary virtual option. This expansion of the criteria is only in effect through Friday, January 7th at this time.
- A student who is positive for COVID-19. This includes students who have tested positive on a home test and are awaiting the results of a PCR test, as well as students who have tested positive on a PCR test.
- A student who is quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure.
- A student who has COVID-19 symptoms and is being tested, awaiting COVID-19 test results or awaiting an alternate diagnosis from their healthcare provider.
- A student who has a known exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and the student is being tested for COVID as a precaution.
- A student who has a known exposure to an individual who is symptomatic and has been tested for COVID-19 and that individual is awaiting test results, and the student is being tested for COVID as a precaution.
Families of students who meet the above criteria should contact the main office of their child’s school so the District can document each situation and follow up accordingly. In addition, absences based on the above criteria will allow for the student to access the tutoring option (grades K-5) or the virtual option (grades 6-12).
As stated, our goal is to continue in-person instruction throughout this school year. Our ability to provide in-person instruction is solely based on our ability to properly staff the District. Due to the increased cases, it is a very real possibility that the District will have to transition to remote instruction for a period of time. Please know that I strongly believe in the value of in-person instruction and I know the impact of remote learning on our families. As a result, we will only make this transition if it is absolutely necessary.
Finally, I want to thank our community for their support and patience throughout the pandemic. This has been an extremely difficult time and we have made it this far because of our care and concern for each other.
