APO OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT – FRIDAY – 7:30-9:30pm

The APO will be sponsoring an outdoor movie event for students on Friday, May 20th from 7:30-9:30pm.
The movie, which was selected by a whole school vote, will be “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” (Rated PG) which was released late last year.
Tickets are $5.00 and will be for sale during lunches on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20th.
No tickets will be sold at the door.
While we wait for the movie to start there will be chalk art, lawn games and a seventh grade favorite: Duck, Duck,Goose.
Popcorn and other snacks will be for sale by the APO during the event.
The APO will also have their book fair open during the event.
We hope that your child will join us for a fun evening under the stars!
Please note: The event will be held indoors should we have rain on Friday, May 20th.

STUDENT COUNCIL T-SHIRT SALE

Back by popular demand is the annual AMS We Are Warriors T-shirt sale!
Sponsored by Student Council, students can order a We Are Warriors T-shirt for $8.00.
All order forms and money must be returned to the main office by Thursday, May 26.
Order forms will be distributed in Morning Meeting this week.

MIDPOINT OF MARKING PERIOD

This week represents the midpoint of the fourth marking period. As a result, we encourage families to check SchoolTool this coming weekend to help monitor your child’s progress in their classes thus far for the marking period. Thank you.

END OF YEAR CALENDAR & GRADE 8 RECOGNITION DAY

Due to the emergency closure on Friday, April 29, the school year has been extended one day.
Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23 will be half-days for students in grades K-8. Thursday will now serve as the last day of school for students in K-8.
Please note: Grade 8 Recognition Day will continue to be held on Thursday, June 23 at 8:30am as previously announced. Thank you

AMS SERVES – REGIONAL FOOD BANK FARM FIELD TRIPS

As a reminder, students will be participating in our upcoming AMS Serves field trips to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York Farm. Below are the dates for the field trips.
Please note that Grades 6 and 7 will also be making a stop at Thacher Park after visiting the Food Bank Farm. We are excited to have this opportunity for Grades 6 & 7 as they were not able to participate in the annual fall grade 6 science field trip to Thacher Park due to Covid restrictions. As a result, Grades 6 & 7 will be returning to AMS at approximately 2:00pm. GRADES 7 & 8 CONCERT – WEDS. MAY 18

Our next concert is coming up on Wednesday, May 18th at 7pm here in the AMS Auditorium. Our seventh and eighth grade students have been working hard to prepare for their latest show, this time with everyone back on the big stage. We hope that you can join us for an evening celebrating the progress our seventh and eighth grade students have made this year in their musical pursuits. Thank you.

Families are welcome to shop during one of the evening events happening at the school. If you can’t make it to one of the events, students will have the opportunity to shop during lunches the week of May 23. RENSSELAER COUNTY STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – VIRTUAL ACTIVE PARENTING CLASS

Rensselaer County’s Student Assistance Program is offering a 5 week online parent education series. Active Parenting of Teens is an online program that will give you the confidence and courage to meet the challenges (and savor the joys) of your children’s teen years. Combining entertaining video, group discussion, reading and activities, the program will show you how to:
Communicate effectively with teens (it can be done!)
Understand a teen’s goals—which is key to avoiding power struggles
Give your teen the tools needed to behave in a responsible way
Be a positive influence on your adolescent
Reduce the risks of the teen years, including alcohol, drugs, sexuality and violence.

AP ALL SPORTS SUMMER CAMP IS BACK!

Chris Anderson and Mike Cavotta are proud to announce the return of AP All-Sports Camp! This non-competitive games camp for elementary and middle school students will take place June 27 – 30, from 9 AM to noon at Algonquin Middle School.
