UPCOMING WINTER CONCERTS

Our students and music teachers have been working hard for our first concerts of the school year. The Grade 6 Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 1 at 7:00pm in the AMS Auditorium. The Grades 7 & 8 Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 13, also at 7:00pm in the AMS Auditorium.

If you’ve never attended an AMS concert, expect a full house and an outstanding music performance. We hope that you can attend, but if you or a family member cannot, please know that all AMS Concerts are live streamed on the school’s YouTube channel and linked on our school webpage: https://www.averillpark.k12.ny.us/amsnews

GRADE 8 REWARD ACCESS – FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16

On Friday, December 16, 2022, grade 8 teachers will host Reward Access, an opportunity for students to participate in activities and games as a reward for their hard work in Quarter 2. Teachers will be offering board games, arts & crafts activities, phys-ed-style games, and more!

In order to participate, students must be in good academic and behavioral standing. Any student who is failing more than 2 classes or has received 2 or more referrals during quarter 2 will attend a teacher-supported study hall instead.

We encourage families to check SchoolTool Current Marking Period Averages to ensure their student is able to participate in this fun event!

Thank you,

Grade 8 Teachers

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS EVENT

A huge thank you goes out to APO President Jenn Brown and the many parent volunteers for all of her work in organizing the fun Holiday Happenings after school event on Tuesday. Over 100 students attended and had a great time! We appreciate all the ways that the APO makes AMS a better place each day for our students.

Make a Book Lover Ornament

Join us at the library to make your own Book Lover Ornament! This adorable ornament is super easy to make and would not only look great on your own tree, but it would also make an incredible gift for any of your book loving friends or family members. You can fill the ornament with any books you choose.

Registration is required for this teen and adult program and participants must supply a list of the books they plan to fill their ornament with by 12/14 so we can have them ready for the event. To register and submit your book list please use the following link: https://forms.gle/FFUsHjr6GZKWPsES9
