  7. APHS Brings Back Spring...

For the first time in a long time, Averill Park High School students will be performing in a Spring Musical. After careful deliberation, “Little Shop of Horrors” was selected and students have completed auditions for roles within the horror comedy rock musical.

A great team of instructional leaders have come together and reorganized the structure of the musical with a long-term vision of developing an in-house, district-supported production each year.

The Spring Musical team is comprised of Nicole Monroe (director), Lauren Mouzakes (Choreographer), Amy Bailey (Design Director), Sarah Christy (Vocal Director and Producer), Kyle Kozlowski (Technical Director), and Mike Blostein (Orchestra Director). Student leaders are also being selected to help in various departments.

The production will include a full, live pit band, featuring both students and adult musicians. A kick-off meeting is happening this week with rehearsals beginning shortly after. The production will run February 10-12 with three showings.

“Being able to bring these events back has made a huge difference in our school community, and I look forward to seeing many of our students, and their families, as we celebrate some of these special times together,” APHS Principal Heath Quiles said.

Stay tuned for more information, including videos and photos which will be posted leading up to the musical’s much-anticipated return.
