WARRIOR WEDNESDAY THEME: RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKING

Whether in school, work or social relationships, the ability to critically analyze a problem, map out all its elements and prepare a workable solution is an exceptionally valuable skill set. Problem solving skills are necessary in all areas of life, and classroom problem solving activities can be a great way to give students good practice.

Additional information about how Averill Park will be addressing this theme and how you can support your child at home can be found here.

January 24th – APHS elective teachers will be at AMS during lunches for the annual elective fair. FROM THE LIBRARY

CHROMEBOOK REMINDER:  Please help your child be ready for school by reminding them to charge their Chromebook each night and to be sure to pack it in their backpack for the next school day.  If the battery life falls below 20%, the laptop can go into a deep sleep and die.  It then has to be sent to our Technology Department to be revived. If students are charging their Chromebooks every day, this should ensure that their school day and learning is not interrupted.

From the Poestenkill Public Library:

Need a good excuse to stay in bed reading all day, or a fun distraction to help you while away the cold, gray, winter days? We have just the thing! Get yeti — the Winter Reading Program is back at Poestenkill Library.

This year’s program will run from 1/9/23 – 2/18/23, and is open to ALL ages. We have plenty of fun planned and prize opportunities available for everyone; from the youngest pre-readers, children, and teens, to our most experienced adult readers. We’ll also have an interactive Winter Reading display in the library again. To coordinate with this year’s yeti theme, we’re going to build a forest home for our reading yeti. Participants can add a tree sticker to the display for each book read!

So, are you yeti to have some fun? Register online now at https://forms.gle/WsAVTNoLotXPbqds8, or fill out a paper registration at the library, after January 1.

From the North Greenbush Library:

Tween Book Club:  Our next Tween Book Club meeting will be held Saturday, January 21st at 12:00 PM. They will be discussing the book Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor by Ally Carter. The meetings include book discussion, a related craft and snacks. All tweens (ages 10-12) are welcome!
