Averill Park Central School District residents will have a chance to learn more about the four candidates running for three open seats on the Board of Education during a Meet the Candidates Night on Monday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the LGI at the High School.
The four candidates, in the order they will appear on the ballot, are:
Meghan McGarry
Laura Broderick
Peter Schaefer
Samantha Hicks
For candidate bios, click here. Two current Board members, Steven Keller and Caren Rosch, have chosen not to run for re-election. The three open seats are for three-year terms and are non-paid.
Candidates will each be allowed a two-minute introduction to begin. This will be followed by a series of questions asked by a moderator which each candidate will have a set time to respond to. A one-minute closing statement per candidate will end the session.
Community members are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates to Communications Specialist Brian Radewitz at brian.radewitz@questar.org. Questions should not be directed to an individual candidate, but to the group as a whole. Submitted questions will considered to be used during the event.
The Budget Hearing will follow the event at 6:45 p.m. with a Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m.
