Jamie Cocca (shot put / discus), Lydia Ware (200M) and Sophia Morone (200M) have each qualified for the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held on Friday and Saturday at Middletown High School.
All three qualified by competing well at the Section II State Qualifiers. In the shot put, Cocca won with a throw of 52-feet, 8 inches. For the discus, he hit 164-7 for a new personal record and a first place finish.
Ware won the 200-meter run with a time of 25.48 seconds with Morone coming in second at 25.54.
Also at the state qualifiers, Michael Beskid had a personal best of 56.77 seconds in the 400 Hurdles, placing second. Marty Bond had two personal records at the meet, placing second in the discus with a 139-4 and fourth in the shot put with a 47-4.
