  7. Welcome New Staff Members...

Welcome to two new Elementary School staff members, Ms. Ryan and Mrs. Fawcett!

Kelsey Ryan, West Sand Lake, Kindergarten

KelseyRyanMs. Ryan comes to Averill Park CSD with Bachelor and Masters degrees from SUNY Oneonta, where she earned certifications in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, Literacy Education and Students with Disabilities. Over the past four years, Ms. Ryan has worked in various school districts across New York state and this is her first full time classroom!

“I really learned about the district through the interviews and speaking with the teachers and Superintendents of the district. They are welcoming, proud, supportive and truly teach to the students first,” she said. “They work diligently to include families into every child’s education and stress the importance of the home-school connection.”

Fun Fact! Ms. Ryan loves video games and has a Nintendo Switch. She loves Mario Kart 8 and Mario Party! As a December baby, Ms. Ryan loves snowmobiling, but also loves kayaking and riding on her side-by-side. She has a four-year-old coonhound mix, Opie, who loves being with his friends and running around. Opie is very well known at his Doggie Daycare!

Chelsea Fawcett, Miller Hill-Sand Lake, AIS

fawcettMrs. Fawcett attended The College of Saint Rose for her undergraduate and graduate studies, and holds degrees in Childhood Education and Literacy. This will be her seventh year teaching, having previously taught grades 4 and 5, as well as intervention for K-2.

“Averill Park reminds me of my hometown where I grew up,” she said. “I live close to the community and have always wanted to teach and give back to the children and families of a community like this one. Averill Park CSD is a special place!”

Fun Fact! Mrs. Fawcett has identical twin nephews who star in a television series! They are currently wrapping up filming of season three. In her spare time, Mrs. Fawcett enjoys being with family and friends. She loves going to park and doing outdoor activities with her two-year-old son and husband. She spends a lot of time reading and, of course, planning fun lessons for her students!
