POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Director of Nursing
To begin ASAP

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered Professional Nurse with a Bachelors in Nursing or higher degree, Licensed in NYS
• Ability to interact with Students, Staff, Administration, General Public and Health Professionals
• Possesses communication, interpersonal, leadership and decision making skills

Responsibilities:
• Support the implementation of district goals
• To provide organization and coordination in the delivery of healthcare services within the Averill Park District in collaboration with school healthcare providers, administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students.
• Work with the Director of SPED and Support Services to insure development, implementation, consistency and compliance with local, state, federal and other health care mandates as well as policies, procedures and regulations of the Averill Park School District.
• Set and distribute agendas for the quarterly nurse’s meetings
• Facilitate the quarterly nurse’s meetings. Record and distribute nurse’s meeting minutes
• Liaison between the district nurses, the Director of SPED/Support Services and District Administration
• Liaison between the district nurses and the District Medical Director
• Coordination of scheduling for sports physicals, new entrant physicals and grade specific physicals with the District Medical Director and the Athletic Director
• Coordination of the annual Flu Clinic
• Participates in new teacher/staff orientation
• Development of health care protocols, procedures and revision of protocols and procedures
• Coordinate educational activities for the nurses, such as concussion training, CPR recertification, Narcan training, etc.
• Coordinate educational activities provided by the nurses for other faculty and staff as needed
• Implement and monitor compliance with New York State mandates, such as the immunization survey, the BMI survey, narcan, epipen use and reporting
• Maximizes educational outcomes by supporting physical and mental health of the student body
• Assists with risk reduction throughout the district
• Provides input into health and safety related matters in the district
• Assists with recruiting, screening, interviewing, training and orientation of new nurses
• District Health Commerce and SNAP coordinator
• Participates in, orders and maintains free epipens and narcan supplies for all district schools and Athletic Trainer
• Coordinates all Kiwanis and other community agencies food and holiday help programs with District nurses
• Completion of annual report
• Sitting member of the Wellness Committee, District Safety Committee, Child Study Team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Goal-Setting:
o Support the implementation of district goals through development of appropriate curriculum team actions steps
• Communication:
o Participate in Curriculum Council meetings and trainings
o Share information/initiatives of Curriculum Council group with curriculum team
o Establish agenda and record minutes for curriculum meetings
• Collaboration:
o Support alignment of curriculum and instruction
o Support implementation of guaranteed curriculum
o Lead colleagues in scope/sequence activities
o Lead curriculum work with team members relating to pacing guides, common assessments and the utilization of data to inform instruction.
• Professional Development:
o Act as a turn-key trainer for staff development activities related to curriculum and instruction
o Serve as an instructional leader and resource to members of the team
• Informed Discussions and Decision Making:
o Chair the monthly curriculum team meetings
o Utilize data-based decision making with team members
o Participate in analysis of student performance to identify and design necessary instructional programs changes

SALARY:
As per APTA Contract
