Averill Park CSD students joined thousands of other students from New York Harbor to Troy in the 17th Annual “A Day in the Life of the Hudson River” event.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Students collect scientific information from dozens of locations along the Hudson River and share their data so that they can better understand how their specific piece of the River fits into the larger ecosystem.
Information gathered by students is used in ongoing research projects. It is also incorporated into lesson plans which are made available to teachers throughout the Hudson Valley.
